Neverforgotten | Nuncaseolvida
CASE STUDY
For the project Neverforgotten (Nuncaseolvida in Spanish) by Alejandra Algorta, I was tasked with designing the front and back covers, as well as the flaps, for both the English and Spanish editions. This bilingual novel, enriched by Iván Rickenmann’s evocative illustrations, tells a poignant story set in the streets of Bogotá. My design sought to capture the emotional depth and cultural richness of the narrative while maintaining a distinct visual identity for each language edition.

INSPIRATION BEHIND THE DESIGN
The inspiration for the cover design was rooted in the principles of color blocking and the use of condensed bold typography. I wanted to create a visually striking cover that would draw readers in with its simplicity and impact. The bold type was warped behind the central image to add depth and dimension, subtly reflecting the layered experiences of the protagonist.

FINAL DESIGN (IN SPANISH)
For the final design, I incorporated one of the illustrations provided from within the book, allowing the artwork to take center stage on the cover. The Spanish version of the design features slight variations to distinguish it from the English edition while maintaining a cohesive overall aesthetic. I am particularly pleased with how the design turned out, especially the ability to convey the story’s essence through a unified yet distinct visual approach across both versions.
