CASE STUDY
FINAL DESIGN
In the final design, I crafted the front cover, back cover, table of contents, and the poetry pages, ensuring that each element was thoughtfully integrated to reflect the depth and diversity of the work. Collaborating on the interior layout with the talented designer Giovanna was a pivotal experience for me, as she introduced me to the nuances of interior design. Together, we created a layout that was both visually appealing and respectful of the content’s emotional weight, making the final product a true labor of love and a fitting tribute to the Harvard Divinity School’s Class of 2020.
INSPIRATION BEHIND THE DESIGN
The inspiration behind this design was particularly meaningful to me, as it was my first opportunity to work on a Black-centered project. Creating the mood board was a deeply fulfilling experience, allowing me to explore and celebrate Black culture and aesthetics. The process of pulling together colors, themes, and imagery that resonated with the richness of the content was both inspiring and transformative.

Freedom School Mag: A Collection of Poems, Letters, Paintings & Digital Artwork by Harvard Divinity School was a project born out of resilience and creativity during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially intended to be a poster for an in-person event, it evolved into a heartfelt compilation that captured the voices and visions of the graduating class through poems, letters, paintings, and digital artwork. This project became a poignant memento of their senior year, encapsulating the spirit and emotions of a time unlike any other.
